Product Overview
PA66 General Purpose is a high-performance polyamide 66 that combines superior heat resistance, excellent mechanical strength and good wear resistance for demanding engineering applications. Compared with PA6, PA66 offers a higher melting point, greater stiffness and better retention of properties at elevated temperatures, making it the preferred choice for automotive engine-bay parts, industrial components, bearings, gears and heat-resistant structural parts. Typical properties include tensile strength of 80–90 MPa, flexural modulus of 2800–3200 MPa and HDT of 75–85°C at 1.82 MPa.
Our general-purpose PA66 is made from consistent virgin resin on twin-screw extrusion lines, delivering stable melt flow (20–50 g/10min at 275°C/5kg), uniform pellets and reliable lot-to-lot quality. It processes at 260–290°C melt temperature with excellent flow for complex molds, and can be upgraded with glass fiber, impact modifiers or heat stabilizers depending on your application. Natural and white pellets are available as standard.

Applications in Detail
Automotive Engine Bay Components
PA66's higher heat resistance and creep resistance make it reliable for engine-bay parts such as connectors, brackets, covers and housings that see continuous heat, vibration and chemical exposure. Parts hold dimensional accuracy and mechanical properties far better than PA6 in this demanding environment.
Industrial Bearings & Gears
For industrial bearings, gears, pulleys and wear parts, PA66 offers higher stiffness and lower creep than PA6 under load and at temperature. Its toughness and wear resistance support long service life in conveyors, pumps, power tools and agricultural machinery.
Heat-Resistant Structural Parts
Structural brackets, housings and supports that must keep their shape under moderate heat and continuous load benefit from PA66's high heat deflection temperature and excellent mechanical strength. Glass-fiber reinforced PA66 is often specified where metal replacement reduces weight without sacrificing performance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose PA66 over PA6?
PA66 has a higher melting point, higher stiffness and better heat resistance, so it maintains mechanical properties at elevated temperatures and under sustained load. It costs more than PA6, so we help you select the most economical grade for your actual service conditions.
What processing temperature is required?
PA66 typically processes at 260–290°C melt temperature with mold temperature of 70–100°C. Dry the material to ≤0.1% moisture at 80–100°C for 4–8 hours before molding to avoid hydrolysis and surface defects.
Can PA66 be reinforced or modified?
Yes. We supply PA66 GF30, flame-retardant PA66, toughened and wear-resistant PA66 grades. Tell us your application and target properties, and our engineers will recommend the right formulation and processing parameters.
Is PA66 suitable for food or drinking-water contact?
Standard PA66 is not food-contact certified. If your application requires food-contact or potable-water compliance, contact us about certified grades and we will advise on the appropriate documentation and testing.
