Product Overview

Toughened PA6 is nylon 6 modified with impact modifiers to deliver izod impact strength of 30–60 kJ/m² and elongation of 50–100%, while keeping the processability and chemical resistance of polyamide. It absorbs impact energy instead of cracking, even at low temperatures, making it the material of choice for parts that must survive drops, vibration and cold environments.

Our PA6 toughened compound is used in power tool housings, automotive bumpers, sports equipment, low-temperature parts and safety helmets. It can be supplied in natural or black, with custom colors and tuned toughness levels depending on your application.

Jinsu produces toughened PA6 on twin-screw extrusion lines under ISO 9001, offering factory-direct pricing, free samples, low MOQ and global shipping. Contact us for toughened PA6 prices and technical support.

Applications in Detail

Power Tool Housings

Power tools are dropped, knocked and used in cold conditions. Toughened PA6 absorbs repeated impacts without cracking, while its chemical resistance stands up to oils and cleaning agents. It is a cost-effective alternative to PA66 in housings that do not need extreme heat resistance.

Automotive Fasteners & Cable Ties

Clips, fasteners and cable ties are among the highest-volume nylon applications in vehicles and electrical assemblies. Toughened PA6 resists cracking during installation and in cold service, holds components securely, and withstands oils and cleaning agents better than polypropylene-based ties.

Sports Equipment & Low-Temperature Parts

Protective gear, helmet shells, ski bindings and outdoor equipment demand impact resistance in cold weather. Toughened PA6 delivers the strength and flexibility these products need, with good resistance to weather and wear.

Frequently Asked Questions

What impact strength does toughened PA6 achieve?

Our toughened PA6 offers izod impact of 30–60 kJ/m² with elongation of 50–100%, depending on the modifier level. We can tune toughness against stiffness to match your part's requirement.

How is toughened PA6 different from standard PA6?

Standard PA6 has higher stiffness but is brittle under impact, especially at low temperature. Toughened PA6 trades some stiffness for dramatically better impact absorption — typical applications shift from rigid housings to parts that must survive impacts.

Can you adjust the toughness level?

Yes. We offer multiple toughened grades and can develop custom formulations to balance impact strength, stiffness, heat resistance and cost for your specific product.

Does toughened PA6 need drying before molding?

Yes. PA6 is highly hygroscopic; moisture above 0.1% causes splay and brittleness. Dry at 80–90°C for 4–6 hours and use the material within 24 hours of opening the packaging.
