Heat-Resistant ABS is a specialty ABS grade developed for applications where standard ABS softens or deforms under continuous heat. With a Vicat softening point of 105°C and HDT of 95–105°C at 1.82 MPa, it maintains rigidity and dimensional stability in service temperatures up to roughly 90°C, while keeping the excellent surface finish, toughness and processability that make ABS the default choice for consumer and automotive plastic parts.

The grade is produced on Jinsu's twin-screw compounding lines with consistent rubber-phase dispersion, so molded parts show uniform gloss, good weld-line strength and stable color even in thin-wall sections. It is available in natural and black pellets, and custom colors can be matched for your housing or trim application. Automotive Interior Parts

Dashboard components, air vent louvres, trim panels and mirror housings sit close to heat sources and direct sunlight. Heat-resistant ABS keeps its shape and surface gloss at elevated cabin temperatures, passes high-temperature aging tests, and offers the paintability and grain reproduction needed for premium interior finishes.

Hair Dryers & Small Appliances

Hair dryer housings, microwave panels and kettle bodies must survive prolonged exposure to warm air and electrical heat without warping. This grade provides the heat deflection performance to keep housings rigid and the impact toughness to survive drops and daily handling, all at lower cost than PC/ABS blends.

Electronic & Electrical Enclosures

For battery housings, power tool bodies and electrical enclosures that generate moderate heat, heat-resistant ABS offers a good balance of heat performance, flame-retardant additivation capability, dimensional accuracy and cost. Parts hold tight tolerances around PCBs and connectors over long service life.

What temperature can heat-resistant ABS withstand?

This grade has a Vicat softening point of 105°C and HDT of 95–105°C at 1.82 MPa, so it is suitable for continuous service around 80–90°C and short-term exposure higher. For sustained exposure above 100°C, we recommend our PC or PC/ABS grades instead.

Can heat-resistant ABS be customized in color?

Yes. It is available in natural and black pellets as standard, and custom colors can be matched for your application. Tell us your RAL or Pantone reference and we will produce color-matched pellets with consistent batch-to-batch quality.

Is heat-resistant ABS flame retardant?

The base grade is not flame-retardant, but it can be compounded with halogen-free FR systems to meet UL94 V-0 for electrical applications. Contact us with your target rating and part thickness so we can recommend the right formulation.

How should heat-resistant ABS be dried before molding?

Dry at 80–95°C for 2–4 hours with a dehumidifying dryer before molding. Store sealed in a dry, ventilated area away from heat sources, and use promptly after opening to avoid moisture pick-up that causes silver streaks.
