Product Overview

PP Flame Retardant Masterbatch is a high-concentration halogen-free FR masterbatch based on a phosphorus-nitrogen flame-retardant system, with a recommended dosage of 30-35% to reach UL94 V-0 at 1.6 mm in finished PP products. The carrier resin is PP, so it disperses easily and uniformly in both PP homopolymer and copolymer, with moisture content kept at ≤0.3%. The actual concentration can be customized according to the customer's application scenario.

Like our FR PP compounds, the masterbatch works through the synergy of condensed-phase and gas-phase flame-retardant mechanisms, and by interrupting the heat-exchange process to remove the heat required for combustion. This makes finished parts meet glow-wire requirements (GWFI 850) while remaining RoHS-compliant and environmentally friendly.

It is ideal for modifying PP products that are difficult to source as pre-compounded FR grades: injection-molded parts, strapping bands, non-woven fabrics, and pipes. Jinsu supplies the masterbatch factory-direct with free samples, low MOQ and worldwide shipping. Contact us for dosage guidance and pricing.

Applications in Detail

Injection Molded PP Parts

Add 30-35% masterbatch to standard PP to make injection-molded housings, covers and electrical parts flame retardant. The high concentration keeps handling cost low, and the PP carrier ensures uniform dispersion without affecting mechanical properties noticeably.

Strapping Bands & Extrusion Products

Strapping bands, sheets and profiles can be made flame retardant by dosing the masterbatch during extrusion. The halogen-free system keeps the products safe for export to markets with strict environmental regulations.

Non-Woven Fabrics & Pipes

Non-woven fabrics and PP pipes that require flame performance can be produced by adding the masterbatch in the compounding or spinning stage, meeting fire-safety standards while retaining PP's processability.

Frequently Asked Questions

What dosage is needed to reach UL94 V-0?

The recommended dosage is 30-35%. At 30-35% dosage in PP, UL94 V-0 at 1.6 mm is typically achieved. The actual concentration can be customized according to the customer's application scenario. The exact dosage depends on the PP grade, part thickness and processing conditions; we provide dosage recommendations with your order.

Is the masterbatch halogen-free?

Yes. It is based on a phosphorus-nitrogen flame-retardant system with no bromine or chlorine, so finished products are RoHS-compliant and produce less smoke under fire.

Which PP grades is it compatible with?

The PP carrier is compatible with both PP homopolymer and copolymer, including impact copolymers and recycled PP in most cases. Tell us your base resin and we will confirm compatibility and recommended dosage.

How should the masterbatch be stored?

Store sealed in a dry, ventilated area away from high temperature and moisture. Use promptly after opening. The masterbatch itself does not require drying for most applications.
