Product Overview

Silicone PC is a co-polymer of polycarbonate with silicone segments that dramatically improves impact strength at low temperatures, scratch resistance and weatherability, while keeping PC's clarity and heat resistance. With izod impact of 50–70 kJ/m² and HDT of 120–130°C, it survives environments where standard PC cracks or yellows.

This grade is the material of choice for phone housings, charger housings, outdoor equipment enclosures, automotive interior parts and medical devices that demand durability against drops, UV exposure and temperature swings. It is supplied as transparent or translucent pellets and processes on standard PC injection molding equipment.

Jinsu produces silicone PC on dedicated lines with strict moisture control (≤0.02%), backed by ISO 9001 quality management. Factory-direct pricing, free samples, low MOQ and global shipping. Ask for our silicone PC price and technical datasheet.

Applications in Detail

Phone & Charger Housings

Handheld devices drop, scratch and face daily UV exposure. Silicone PC's combination of low-temperature impact resistance (down to -30°C capability) and scratch resistance keeps housings intact and cosmetically clean far longer than standard PC. It also withstands repeated charging heat.

Outdoor & Industrial Equipment

Enclosures for outdoor instruments, solar accessories, EV chargers and industrial controls must resist sun, rain and thermal cycling for years. The superior weatherability of silicone PC prevents yellowing and embrittlement, extending product life in harsh environments.

Automotive Interior & Medical Devices

Automotive interior trim and medical device housings require flame resistance options, chemical resistance to cleaning agents and impact safety. Silicone PC delivers these properties with a premium surface finish and design freedom.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes silicone PC different from standard PC?

The silicone segments in the polymer chain absorb impact energy, dramatically improving notched impact strength especially at low temperatures, while also enhancing scratch resistance, chemical resistance and weatherability. Standard PC is more brittle at low temperatures and yellows faster under UV.

Can silicone PC replace standard PC in existing molds?

In most cases yes — silicone PC has similar melt flow and shrinkage to standard PC, so existing molds usually work with minor gate or cooling adjustments. Send us your mold details and we will confirm compatibility.

What colors and finishes are available?

We supply natural transparent, translucent, and custom-colored pellets. Parts can be painted, printed or laser-marked. For cosmetic applications we can fine-tune gloss and color stability.

What are the drying requirements for silicone PC?

PC is extremely moisture-sensitive. Dry at 120°C for 4–6 hours with a desiccant dryer; moisture must be ≤0.02% before molding to avoid silver streaks and bubbles.
